Prayer at Beth Sholom

Our weekly Shabbat services, conducted in Hebrew and English, are filled with song and spirit (ru-ah), and are infused with spirituality and meaning.  The siddur (prayer book) that we use, Siddur Sim Shalom, has a modern English translation facing the Hebrew text on each page.  It is user-friendly and contains additional meditations and readings for quiet contemplation.

The Friday evening service begins at 6:00 pm and lasts approximately 35 minutes.  The lively melodies and English readings help us to spiritually welcome Shabbat in our souls.  Immediately following the service is an oneg (light refreshments).
On the second Friday of the month, a Shabbat dinner follows the service. (Check the Shofar or Calendar page to make sure no changes have been made to the Shabbat dinner schedule.)
You must have a reservation to participate in the dinner, but anyone is free to attend the service. During Eastern Standard Time, services with dinner start at 5pm. During Eastern Daylight Time, services with dinner start at 6pm.

The Saturday morning service combines spirited singing and quiet meditative prayer.  The heart of the service is an interactive, participatory discussion and study session in English of the week's portion from the Torah.  The service begins at  9:30 am and concludes at 11:45 followed by a kiddush/lunch buffet.
